ABOUT
the problem
MISSION & PROBLEM STATEMENT.
We are becoming increasingly aware of the dangerous effects of how much waste we are producing. Still, Americans continue to produce an average of 4.5 pounds of waste per day. Why is that? Most products available to us are designed to be single use, or are made from unsustainable materials that inevitably end up in landfills. What is it that we can do right now to help? Provide new options! To tackle the issue, our team is developing the SeaGreen Co. convenience store specifically for college campuses. We are selling low waste and plastic free alternatives to the products that students usually buy at convenience stores. Currently, we are functioning as a pop-up store at Boston University's George Sherman Union and various other locations on BU's campus. Our goal in the long term is to open up a physical store and eventually expand to other college campuses. We really wanted to create a service for college students because our demographic is constantly learning about climate change in our classes but we are rarely given concrete advice on how to make change now. Creating solutions to the growing environmental crisis will largely be in the hands of our generation.

Our venture would not be possible without the help and support of Boston Univeristy programs and organizations. We are currently operating on seed grants courtesy of Sustainability@BU and the BUild Lab.
